Marbletown’s Jazzstock presents Juneteenth with James Weidman


Celebrating Juneteenth, Jazzstock presents Spiritual Impressions with James Weidman, featuring Weidman on piano; Ruth Naomi Floyd and Teri Roiger, vocals; Anthony E. Nelson Jr., reeds; John Menegon, bass, and Vince Ector, drums, 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Senate Garage, 4 North Front St., Kingston. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas, origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Today Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. The music in this concert is in celebration of this day of freedom! Tickets are $25 and available at or at Rhino Records, 6 North Front St., Kingston, up until concert time.
