Get a kick from the wild racket at the Rosendale Theatre, 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, with the screening of “STOMP Live” (2009), a transformation of brooms, oil cans and toilet plungers -- everyday objects from the home and workroom -- into exquisite instruments for percussive dance. Directed by Steve McNicholas who created “STOMP” with Luke Cresswell, “STOMP Live” is the HD version of the popular off-Broadway production, filmed in England at the Brighton Dome. To cap off the afternoon, choreographer/dancer Joel Hanna and dancers from Vanaver Caravan’s SummerDance Tour will command the Rosendale Theatre stage with a merry rumpus of their own.  Hanna is an internationally renowned dancer and choreographer with over 32 years in dance and 25 years in martial arts. In between shows and productions he is a sought-after teacher and spends his time mentoring young emerging dancers through various award-winning dance and higher education institutions as well as professional companies around the world. The Vanaver Caravan’s SummerDance Tour, in its 27th year, is a unique three-week dance intensive for dancers, age 9 through teens. Dance Film Sundays, a series that started in June 2010 under the auspices of the Rosendale Theatre Collective, are held on the second Sunday of every month at Rosendale Theatre. Admission to this Aug. 13 event is $10/members, $12/nonmembers and $6 for children 12 and under.  For more information, visit rosendaletheatre.org or call 658-8989.
